Why these two studies

Arabic so you understand the Book of Allah ʿAzza wa Jall, and Tajweed so you recite it as it was revealed.

Shaykh al Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:

“The Arabic language itself is from the religion, and knowing it is an obligation. Understanding the Book and the Sunnah is obligatory, and they are not understood except by understanding the Arabic language, and whatever an obligation cannot be fulfilled without is itself obligatory.”

Iqtiḍāʾ aṣ Ṣirāṭ al Mustaqīm

Imam Ibn al Jazarī رحمه الله said:

“Taking Tajweed is a binding necessity; whoever does not recite the Qur'an with Tajweed is sinful. Because with it Allah ʿAzza wa Jall sent it down, and in this way it reached us from Him.”
